Supplier Diversity 'Relationships to Partnerships' Nov. 16

The Supplier Diversity Development Coalition of Greater Lafayette is hosting its 14th annual Relationships to Partnerships conference, which looks to connect minority-, women- and veteran-owned businesses with larger firms, Nov. 16 from approximately 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Purdue University's West Lafayette campus. The event is open to the public.

The event will take place on the second floor of the Stewart Center.

- 8-8:30 a.m. -- Registration and refreshments, Stewart Center, Room 218.

- 8:30-9:30 a.m. -- "Shaping Tomorrow Today" panel discussion about the trends and resources that business owners should be aware of for the future, Stewart Center, Room 218.

Scott Walker, president and CEO, Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce will serve as the facilitator. Panelists include Ting Gootee, chief investment officer of Elevate Ventures; Brooke Beier, vice president of Purdue Research Foundation Office of Technology Commercialization; Fred Payne, commissioner of Department of Workforce Development; and Maia Siprashvili-Lee, deputy commissioner of Indiana Department of Administration Division of Supplier Diversity.

- 9:45-11:45 a.m. -- Concurrent sessions.

Session 1 -- Construction, architecture/engineering and related services, Stewart Center, Rooms 214AB.

Session 2 -- Goods, Support and Professional Services, Stewart Center, Rooms 214CD.

- 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. -- Resources and networking.

- 12:30- 2 p.m. -- Awards luncheon and keynote speaker Elaine Bedel, president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

The networking and luncheon events will take place in the North Ballroom on the main floor of the adjacent Purdue Memorial Union.

Interested individuals can pre-register online for $45 through Nov. 15 or in person at the event for $50. Guest parking is available in the Grant Street Parking Garage.

This event is sponsored by Purdue University, Purdue Alumni Association, Ivy Tech Community College, Oerlikon Fairfield, Fifth Third Bank, Wabash National, Wilhelm Construction, IU Health, CityBus and the City of West Lafayette.

The City of Lafayette, City of West Lafayette and the Tippecanoe County Board of Commissioners will each proclaim November 16, 2018 as Supplier Diversity Day in honor of the coalition.

Purdue University created the coalition in 2004 to facilitate meaningful connections between diverse businesses in Indiana and Purdue University and other major businesses in the local community.
