Indiana Farms Total 56,100

The number of farms in Indiana in 2018 was 56,100, according to Greg Matli, state statistician of the USDA, NASS, Indiana Field Office. Land in farms was 15.0 million acres, unchanged from last year. The average size farm in Indiana was 267 acres per
farm, up 2 acres from 2017.
The number of farms in the United States for 2018 is estimated at 2.03 million, down 12,800 farms from 2017. Total land in farms, at 900 million acres, decreased 870,000 acres from 2017. The average farm size for 2018 is 443 acres, up 2 acres from the
previous year.
