Wyandotte Caves Guides Invited to Reunion
Indiana Ag Connection - 08/09/2017
Former guides of Wyandotte Caves are invited to a reunion on Aug. 26 to share stories and photos and reminisce about their experience.
Wyandotte Caves State Recreation Area is managed by O'Bannon Woods and is home to Little Wyandotte and Big Wyandotte caves.
Big Wyandotte had been open for public tours since 1851, making it the fourth oldest commercial cave in the United States.
Recognizing the property as one of the state's greatest natural treasures, the DNR bought Wyandotte Caves and nearly 1,200 surrounding acres in 1966 and continued to offer tours.
For more details on the reunion, and to RSVP, call the O'Bannon Woods State Park office at (812) 738-8232.
The Wyandotte Caves are open from Memorial Day through Labor Day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
O'Bannon Woods State Park (stateparks.IN.gov/2976.htm) is at 7234 Old Forest Road, Corydon.
