Fairgoers will have the opportunity to join Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, on a bicycle ride to the Indiana State Fair. The ride will launch at 10 a.m. on Aug. 11 from the Frank and Judy O'Bannon Old Northside Park, located at 950 East 16th Street in the Monon16 neighborhood, and will end at that the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center, located at 1202 E. 38th Street. Once fairgoers arrive at the Fair, they will get the opportunity to save $1 on admission by using Pedal & Park located along 38th Street and the Monon Trail.

"Like many in Indianapolis, the Indiana State Fair is a tradition my family and I look forward to each and every year. From rides to exhibits, food to entertainment -- there is truly something for everyone," said Mayor Joe Hogsett. "This year we start a new tradition, biking to the Indiana State Fairgrounds from one of our city's growing, thriving neighborhoods. Monon16 and the Indiana State Fair represent the best of Indianapolis, and I hope neighbors will come out for Bike to the Fair day as we celebrate innovation and history in the heart of our city."

This bike ride, which is about three and a half miles long, is a great way for fairgoers to help reduce carbon emissions, gain entry to/from the Fairgrounds, and get some exercise after indulging in delicious Fair food and beverages.

Using the Indiana State Fair's Pedal & Park will not only provide a discount on admission, it also includes free parking. Fairgoers who participate in the Mayor's Bike to the Fair Day will park in one of the State Fairgrounds' free secured bicycle racks available on the Monon Trail at 38th Street. These bicycle racks are available daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. or until 11 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Bicyclists must enter the Fairgrounds through Gate 18, which is located on the Monon Trail.
