What Rabbit Owners Need to Know About RHD Virus
Indiana Ag Connection - 06/04/2020
Hoosier rabbit owners are encouraged to participate in a free webinar about rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) hosted by the Indiana State Board of Animal Health (BOAH) and Indiana 4-H.
Rabbit owners will learn about RHDV, which has not known to exist in the United States until just a few months ago. Since then, this foreign animal disease has spread quickly through wild and domestic rabbit populations in six Southwestern states.
With rabbit show season ramping up, BOAH wants Hoosier rabbit owners to know how to keep their animals safe and healthy. This webinar will focus on the best strategies to keep rabbits healthy and prevent infection at home and at exhibitions.
In this June 11 webinar beginning at 4 p.m. Eastern, BOAH Companion Animal Director and Veterinarian Dr. Melissa Justice will also explain how a diagnosis in Indiana will be handled by state animal health officials.
A question and answer session will be available at the end of the webinar.
