MarketReady Training to Help Indiana Producers Go Wholesale

Purdue Extension will host a MarketReady training session on September 18, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET in Greensburg, Indiana, at its Decatur County office. This program is designed to support Indiana food producers looking to expand into wholesale markets.

Originally developed by the University of Kentucky, the MarketReady program prepares participants to meet the complex demands of wholesale buyers. The training focuses on product quality, food safety, insurance, and risk management—all critical for successful wholesale business growth.

Attendees will also hear from a panel of buyers, offering real-world insights into what wholesale clients look for and how producers can meet those standards.

“MarketReady equips local food producers with the knowledge and confidence to take their business to the next level,” said Sarah Hanson, Purdue’s food systems coordinator. “This training helps ensure they are prepared to meet the demands of buyers while maintaining the quality of their products.”

Registration is $75 and includes lunch. Interested participants must register before 6 p.m. on September 10. The training is open to all, but attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Those needing accommodations or language services should contact Hanson by September 9.

Purdue Extension plans to offer additional MarketReady sessions statewide. Producers interested in future trainings can complete an interest survey at puext.in/MarketReady.

This training aims to support Indiana’s growing local food economy by helping producers confidently move into broader and more profitable markets.
