Farmers in Northwest Indiana will have an opportunity to sharpen their field preparation and application skills at the Marshall County Precision Planting Meeting scheduled for February 25, 2026.
The program is organized through Purdue Extension and is designed to support efficient, safe, and productive crop management decisions.
The meeting will be held at Davenport Precision Planting in Marshall County. The program runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Eastern Standard Time is part of the Northwest District Extension education schedule. Farmers, applicators, and agricultural professionals are encouraged to attend.
Educational sessions will focus on practical topics that directly impact crop performance. These include fertilizer placement strategies to improve nutrient use efficiency and reduce losses.
Participants will also receive guidance on planter maintenance to support accurate seed placement and uniform emergence during planting season.
Sprayer maintenance and sprayer technology will be additional areas of focus. These sessions aim to help producers keep equipment operating correctly, improve application accuracy, and support crop protection goals.
Proper equipment care is an important step in reducing downtime, improving field efficiency, and protecting investments.
The program will also include discussion of the 2026 Environmental Stewardship and regulatory topic.
This information will help producers understand upcoming requirements and expectations related to pesticide application and equipment use, supporting both compliance and responsible farm management.
The meeting offers PARP credit opportunities for eligible participants. Farmers planning to attend are asked to RSVP by February 18 by calling 574-261-8368. Early registration helps organizers prepare materials and ensure adequate space for participants.
Program coordination and educational support are provided by Jesi Davenport, a LaPorte County ANR Educator with Purdue Extension. Jesi Davenport is also the primary contact for questions related to the event, schedule, or participation details.
This precision planting meeting reflects Purdue Extension’s commitment to providing research based, easy to understand education. By attending, farmers can build practical skills, stay informed on regulations, and prepare their equipment and operations for a successful 2026 growing season.
