Farmers and farmland owners often face many responsibilities, including understanding taxes related to agricultural operations. To support clearer financial decision-making, a two-part virtual workshop will be offered to help participants learn the essentials of farm tax planning.
The sessions will take place on December 1 and December 8, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time and will be delivered online through Zoom for convenient access.
The first night will focus on the foundations of farm taxes. Topics will include income tax brackets, how to organize important paperwork, and the differences between cash and accrual accounting.
Participants will also receive an introduction to Schedule F, which is commonly used to report farm income and expenses. These basics are designed to help individuals understand how taxes are calculated and why accurate records are important.
The second night will prepare attendees for the upcoming tax season. This session will cover useful questions to ask an accountant and practical tax strategies suited to agricultural operations.
These strategies can help farmers plan ahead, avoid mistakes, and make informed decisions. The workshop is valuable both for those who are new to farm taxes and for individuals who want to improve their current approach.
Information about pricing and payment can be found on the fees page before registering. The workshop has a refund and cancellation policy that includes a 12% registration fee plus a $5 processing fee for all cancellations.
No refunds will be issued after November 20, 2025. For virtual events, links to join will only be shared once payment is received, and refunds will not be given for individual technical issues after access is provided.
Purdue University follows a nondiscrimination policy and encouraged anyone needing accommodations, interpreters, or translators to contact the program coordinator by November 20, 2025.
Registration assistance is available through the Education Store. The registration deadline is December 2, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
