LaGrange Vegetable Tour Highlights Better Pest Management Strategies

LaGrange Vegetable Tour Highlights Better Pest Management Strategies

By Andi Anderson

Vegetable growers and agricultural professionals will have the opportunity to gain valuable production insights during the LaGrange County Vegetable Tour scheduled for August 11, 2026. The educational event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST at the Maynard Miller Farm in LaGrange County, Indiana.

The tour is designed to provide farmers with practical information that can help improve vegetable crop production and pest management. As vegetable growers face increasing challenges from insects, diseases, and changing regulations, access to reliable information is becoming more important for maintaining productive and profitable operations.

A major focus of the program will be the use of the Midwest Vegetable Guide as a tool for making effective pest control decisions. Experts will discuss how growers can use the guide to identify pest threats, select appropriate control measures, and develop management plans that protect crops while supporting efficient farm practices.

Participants will learn how informed pest management decisions can help reduce crop losses and improve vegetable quality. By understanding pest pressures and available control options, growers can better protect their crops throughout the growing season. The program will also emphasize the importance of following recommended practices to achieve successful and sustainable vegetable production.

Another key topic will be the 2026 ESA Regulatory Update. Regulatory requirements continue to evolve, making it important for farmers to stay informed about policies that may affect crop protection activities and farm management decisions. The update will provide participants with current information that can help them understand and prepare for changes impacting vegetable production.

Events such as this tour provide growers with the opportunity to learn directly from agricultural educators and industry experts. In addition to gaining technical knowledge, attendees can exchange ideas, discuss common challenges, and explore practical solutions that can be applied on their farms.

Jeff Burbrink, ANR Educator, is the contact person for the event and can provide additional information to interested participants. The tour will be held at Maynard Miller Farm, located at 1485 S 300 W, LaGrange, Indiana.

The LaGrange County Vegetable Tour aims to support farmers by providing useful, research-based information on pest management and regulatory developments. Through education and field-based learning, growers can strengthen their decision-making skills, improve crop protection strategies, and enhance the overall success of their vegetable production operations.
