Indiana Farm Bureau’s political action committees, ELECT and AgELECT, have endorsed 83 candidates for the 2026 general election. The endorsements reflect the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting leaders who understand and address the needs of agriculture and rural communities.
The endorsements were announced as part of Indiana Farm Bureau’s grassroots advocacy efforts. The organization regularly works with elected officials and candidates to discuss issues that are important to farmers and rural residents across the state.
Indiana Farm Bureau President Randy Kron emphasized the significance of the endorsement process and the role public officials play in supporting agriculture. He said, “Indiana Farm Bureau endorsements are taken very seriously as a part of the organization’s grassroots advocacy effort. The goal of our PACs is to back candidates who are willing to listen and engage in issues impacting agriculture. We rely on public officials who will advocate on behalf of Hoosier agriculture and serve as our voice at the Statehouse and in Washington, D.C.”
Agriculture continues to face several important policy challenges, making government engagement especially important. Key issues include taxes, land use, labor availability, and the overall vitality of rural communities. Indiana Farm Bureau has maintained regular communication with state lawmakers and members of Indiana’s congressional delegation to ensure agricultural concerns are considered as legislation is developed.
The organization noted that strong representation at both the state and federal levels will remain essential as policymakers work on legislation affecting farmers and rural businesses. Supporting leaders who understand the agricultural sector can help create policies that encourage growth, stability, and long-term success.
The endorsement process involves extensive participation from local Farm Bureau leaders throughout Indiana. County representatives conduct candidate interviews, evaluate their views on agricultural issues, and provide recommendations. These recommendations are then reviewed by oversight committees and the Indiana Farm Bureau board of directors before final endorsements are made.
According to the organization, an Indiana Farm Bureau endorsement recognizes candidates who support policies that promote a positive environment for agriculture and rural communities. The process is designed to ensure that endorsed candidates are informed about the challenges and opportunities facing farmers.
