Purdue Extension and the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture are providing an educational webinar series designed to help growers, horticulture professionals, students, and gardening enthusiasts learn more about greenhouse production of specialty crops.
The program offers participants an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge from experts while exploring modern greenhouse growing practices.
The webinar series runs from August through November and focuses on the production of flowers, vegetables, and fruits grown in greenhouse environments. Greenhouse production continues to play an important role in agriculture by helping growers maintain better control over temperature, water, nutrients, and overall crop health.
As demand for high-quality specialty crops increases, educational programs such as this webinar series help producers stay informed about current practices and innovations.
The sessions are held once each month on the third Wednesday from noon to 1:00 p.m. This format allows participants to conveniently attend the educational programs during lunch hours while maintaining their regular schedules.
Each webinar features presentations that focus on different aspects of greenhouse crop production, offering practical information that participants can apply in their own operations or studies.
The webinar series covers a wide range of specialty crops commonly cultivated in controlled environments.
Topics include greenhouse flower production, vegetable growing systems, and fruit crop management. Participants can learn about techniques that improve crop performance, increase production efficiency, and support sustainable growing practices.
One of the key benefits of greenhouse production is the ability to provide favorable growing conditions throughout the year. Producers can protect crops from extreme weather while optimizing environmental factors that influence plant growth and yield.
Educational programs such as these help growers understand the best management practices for achieving successful production outcomes.
The webinar series is open to anyone interested in greenhouse agriculture, including commercial growers, educators, researchers, students, and home gardeners who want to expand their understanding of specialty crop production.
By sharing research-based information, the program supports both experienced producers and individuals new to greenhouse cultivation.
There is no cost to attend the webinars, making the series accessible to a broad audience. However, registration is required to participate. Registered attendees receive connection details and webinar access information by email before each scheduled session, ensuring a smooth and convenient online learning experience.
Questions regarding the program can be directed to Lori Jolly Brown, Purdue Extension, or Dr. Krishna Nemali, Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. Their support helps ensure participants have access to the information needed to successfully join and benefit from the sessions.
