The U.S. Department of Agriculture has opened applications for a new nationwide effort designed to help American farmers and producers reach more global markets. The program, called the America First Trade Promotion Program, offers $285 million in support to organizations working to expand agricultural exports.
The goal is to create new opportunities for producers by building on recent national trade agreements that aim to improve access to foreign markets.
The program invites eligible groups to apply for funding that can help them increase their global reach. This support may include trade promotion activities, market research, international outreach, and other efforts that help farmers sell their goods in new regions. Applications for the program are due January 23, 2026, giving interested organizations several months to prepare their submissions.
In general terms, the program reflects a continued effort to strengthen agricultural trade. Supporters note that recent trade agreements are designed to give farmers a more level playing field and expand opportunities for export success. With additional resources from the USDA, organizations can help producers take full advantage of these new openings.
“President Trump and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins’ leadership has ensured that our farmers will benefit from historic trade deals that finally level the playing field and expand their opportunities for export growth,” said Congressman Baird. “I am glad to see the USDA continue to deliver on its commitment to our farmers and producers by creating the America First Trade Promotion Program to help our farmers take full advantage of these opportunities. This program is a historic investment in our great agricultural industry that will allow our farmers to sell their quality products on the global stage. I encourage eligible organizations in Indiana’s Fourth Congressional District to apply.”
For many in agriculture, the program offers a chance to grow their markets at a time when global demand continues to shift. Agricultural exports are a key part of economic stability for many rural communities, and broader access to global markets can provide new income and long-term opportunities.
The USDA encourages all eligible organizations to review the program details and apply before the deadline. This new investment is expected to help strengthen trade relationships and highlight the quality of American agricultural products around the world.
