What to Expect this Black Friday, Cyber Monday

A video featuring Aaron Lawry, a Purdue University assistant professor of consumer science in the College of Health and Human Sciences, has been uploaded to the AP Video Hub. Lawry says since the pandemic began, retailers have been more transparent about the deals they will be offering.
He predicts that due to inflation, many items will be bundled together to trigger consumer FOMO, or fear of missing out. Lawry says retailers do this to encourage shoppers to buy more products related to one another, such as laptops and earbuds.
He expects smart home products such as Alexa, Google Home and smart watches to be discounted during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
He also predicts that deals on televisions -- especially smart TVs -- will be common as well.
Lawry says one way to save money online is to use plug-ins like Honey and websites like retailmenot.com to search for coupon codes.
