AgCareers Survey Shows Salary Drives Applications

AgCareers Survey Shows Salary Drives Applications

By Jamie Martin

AgCareers, a leading recruitment platform in the agriculture and food industry, recently released insights from its 2024 Application Motivation Survey. The report focuses on improving job postings and the hiring process to build a stronger and more sustainable talent pipeline in the agriculture sector.

A key finding highlights the importance of pay transparency. “Many of the key findings in this research point clearly to pay transparency as an essential aspect of any job advertisement,” said Bonnie Johnson, Marketing & Communications Manager at AgCareers.

The study found that only 32% of applicants would consider a job posting that does not list salary details—indicating that nearly 70% of candidates may skip over such listings.

The survey also found that compensation remains a major factor influencing career choices. Salary was the top reason why candidates selected an employer and was also the top motivator for switching jobs when offered better opportunities.

In addition to salary, two other crucial elements influence job applications: location and job description. Respondents noted that they often begin their job search by filtering location and are most likely to apply to roles that provide detailed job descriptions.

Employer branding also plays a big role, with 93% of candidates stating that a company’s reputation is important when choosing where to apply.

AgCareers continues to support the agriculture industry by helping employers enhance job postings and streamline the application process to attract qualified candidates.

The full report, available for free, includes more insights into application behaviour, employer branding, and job seeker expectations. Visit www.AgCareers.com to download the Application Motivation Survey Final Report 2024–2025.
