Congressman Rudy Yakym continued his "Factories, Freeways, and Fields" tour with a visit to La Porte County, Indiana, on Friday.
The tour, which highlights key areas like agriculture, manufacturing, and infrastructure, is part of Yakym's broader effort to connect with local communities and listen to their concerns.
During his stop in La Porte County, Yakym visited a blueberry farm in North Judson and later met with members of the Indiana Farm Bureau at Parker Farms on State Road 4.
Harold Parker, a local farmer who recently stepped down as the Indiana Farm Bureau District 1 Director, hosted the meeting. Parker’s farm is known for raising tomatoes for Red Gold, as well as corn and soybeans.
Yakym emphasized that the goal of his tour is to listen to the voices of local workers and promote a message of smaller government.
“When I travel around and listen to Hoosiers and what’s on their minds, that’s really what this tour is all about,” Yakym stated. “We want to get the federal government out of the way and let the American worker show up and go to work every day and make this country work.”
Throughout August, Congressman Yakym’s tour has included 75 locations across all 11 counties in Indiana’s Second Congressional District. The tour has spotlighted various aspects of the region, including manufacturing facilities, agricultural enterprises, and transportation and infrastructure projects.
Earlier in the month, Yakym visited La Porte businesses such as Jaeger Unitech Sealing Solutions and Howmet Aerospace, continuing his focus on connecting with local industries and supporting economic growth in the region.
Yakym's efforts to engage with local communities reflect his commitment to understanding the needs of his constituents and advocating for policies that promote a strong economy, efficient government, and robust support for the agricultural sector.
As the tour progresses, Yakym remains dedicated to bringing the concerns of Hoosiers to the forefront of his legislative work.
