Inari has officially opened a new 42,000-square-foot facility in West Lafayette, Indiana, marking the company’s largest expansion to date with a $20 million investment.
This significant development is designed to accelerate the creation and commercialization of higher-yielding seeds, meeting the growing demand in the market.
Inari’s SEEDesign™ technology platform plays a crucial role in this process. By combining AI-powered predictive design with advanced multiplex gene editing, Inari is able to develop innovative products that contribute to global food security, a thriving planet, and the well-being of farmers.
The West Lafayette site now serves as a hub for product development and commercial operations, translating research from Inari’s headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and its site in Ghent, Belgium, into tangible products.
“This expansion ushers in an exciting new phase for Inari as we scale up to deliver our breakthrough products to seed customers,” said CEO Ponsi Trivisvavet. “Not only does it optimize and accelerate our operations, but the expanded capacity and capabilities also allow us to address more crops and crop varieties.”
The facility upgrade includes more than doubling the greenhouse space and adding state-of-the-art LED lighting and environmental controls. Additional office and warehouse space are also part of the expansion.
As a result, Inari expects to increase its West Lafayette workforce, which already represents about half of the company’s more than 300 global employees.
