The Indiana Agricultural Leadership Program (ALP) is offering scholarships sponsored by the Indiana Soybean Alliance (ISA) and Indiana Corn Marketing Council (ICMC) to support full-time corn and soybean producers enrolled in the program.
Paul Hodgen, ICMC President and a Roachdale farmer, praises the ALP's value based on his personal experience as a graduate. He emphasizes its role in developing leaders not only for prominent positions but also for local roles in school boards, church boards, or county offices.
ISA and ICMC plan to offer up to $1,000 per full-time corn and soybean farmer accepted into the program. ALP aims to elevate Indiana's emerging leaders by enhancing their leadership skills and understanding of industry challenges.
Mike Koehne, ISA Chair and a Greensburg farmer, underscores the program's importance in fostering educated and engaged farmers, urging more participation from soybean and corn producers to bring fresh perspectives.
Administered by AgrIInstitute, Inc., ALP includes 12 study seminars covering essential areas of civic engagement and leadership. These seminars expand participants' knowledge across economic, social, political, and cultural aspects while refining their leadership capabilities. The program comprises three-day seminars held in various Indiana locations, alongside sessions in Washington, D.C., and a foreign country.
AgrIInstitute selects a maximum of 30 individuals for the two-year program. The class represents a diverse mix of agricultural and rural community representatives. Tuition costs $6,000 per person, and applications for the upcoming Class 21 must be postmarked by Jan. 26, 2024.
