Indiana is a major producer of corn and ethanol. The state's 15 ethanol plants produce more than 1.4 billion gallons of ethanol per year. To promote the use of ethanol, Indiana corn and ethanol producers recently hosted a group of Latin American influencers on a tour of the state's ethanol supply chain.
The tour began at an ethanol plant in Alexandria, Indiana. The plant produces 90 million gallons of ethanol annually from locally grown corn. The tour group learned about the ethanol production process and the environmental benefits of ethanol.
The next stop on the tour was a Casey's gas station. Casey's is one of the few gas stations in Indiana that sells E85, a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. The tour group learned about the benefits of E85 and how it can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The final stop on the tour was the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). The tour group watched two races at IMS: the Gallagher Grand Prix and the Verizon 200. Both races were run on corn ethanol-blended fuel.
The tour was a success in promoting ethanol as a reliable, economic, and environmentally friendly fuel. The Latin American influencers were impressed with the ethanol production process and the environmental benefits of ethanol. They were also excited to learn about the availability of E85 at Casey's gas stations.
The tour was organized by the Indiana Corn Marketing Council (ICMC) and the U.S. Grains Council (USGC). The ICMC and USGC are committed to promoting the use of ethanol in Indiana and around the world. They believe that ethanol is a key part of the solution to climate change and energy security.
The tour was a great opportunity to share the story of Indiana-made ethanol with a global audience. The ICMC and USGC are grateful to the ethanol producers, Casey's, and IMS for their support of the tour.
