Indiana corn growers elect new leadership

Indiana corn growers elect new leadership

By Andi Anderson

The Indiana Corn Growers Association (ICGA) recently announced its new leadership team for 2024. Chris Cherry, a farmer from New Palestine, was elected as president, taking over from Scott Smith who served for the past two years. Cherry will focus on pressing farm policy issues, particularly the upcoming federal farm bill.

Tyler Everett, Lebanon, became vice president; J.R. Roesner, Ferdinand, secretary; and Joe Tuholski, LaPorte, treasurer. These individuals have extensive experience in the agricultural sector, holding positions on various boards and committees.

The board also welcomed new directors:

Tom Murphy: Re-elected for District 1, representing Lake, Porter, and northwestern LaPorte counties.

Alan Dunn: Elected for District 4, representing Benton, Boone, Carroll, Clinton, Hendricks, and other counties.

Tyler Pottschmidt: Appointed to fill the vacant seat in District 9, representing Brown, Clark, and other counties.

These new members bring diverse perspectives and expertise to the ICGA board. Dunn emphasizes the importance of educating the public about modern farming practices and promoting new end uses for corn. Pottschmidt highlights the need for innovation in corn production and new technologies. Murphy desires to represent the concerns of District 1 farmers to policymakers.

With a strong leadership team in place, the ICGA is well-equipped to advocate for Indiana corn growers and address the challenges facing the industry in 2024.
