The Indiana State Department of Agriculture is inviting submissions for the 16th annual Indiana Agriculture Photo Contest. The contest, open to all Indiana residents, aims to recognize the hard work of Hoosier farmers and celebrate the beauty of the state's agricultural landscape.
Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, who also serves as the secretary of agriculture and rural development, encourages all Hoosiers to participate in the contest. Whether using a professional camera or a smartphone, individuals are encouraged to submit their best images showcasing Indiana agriculture.
The contest encompasses various categories, including "On the Farm," which highlights farm buildings, equipment, and activities. The "Faces of Agriculture" category focuses on individuals involved in food, fuel, and fiber production in Indiana. "Agritourism" showcases seasonal and agricultural destinations like orchards, wineries, and farmers' markets. Lastly, the "Conservation" category emphasizes Indiana's natural beauty through landscapes, water, and wildlife.
A total of 10 winners will be selected, with two winners from each category and two overall winners. The winners will be invited to a special ceremony at the Indiana State Fair, where they will be honored and receive certificates from Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director Don Lamb. Additionally, the winning photographs will be featured in the offices of the Lt. Governor's Family of Business in Indianapolis throughout the year.
Contestants can submit up to five digital photos, accompanied by a submission form for each photo. The entries will be evaluated based on creativity, composition, and representation of the chosen category. Submissions must be made by 5 p.m. on June 30.
For those interested in participating, entry forms, guidelines, and criteria can be found at isda.in.gov. It's an opportunity for photographers across the state to showcase the beauty and significance of Indiana's agriculture industry.
