Huntington County farmer Janis Highley has made history as the third consecutive woman from District 4 to be elected 2nd Vice President of the Indiana Farm Bureau (INFB). Highley's victory on the third ballot signifies a continued commitment to strong female leadership within the organization. Passionate Advocate for Agriculture:
Highley's journey to state leadership stems from a deep passion for advocating for the agricultural industry. Her involvement extends beyond the INFB, with roles on the Indiana Corn Marketing Council board and as a risk advisor for farmers.
Focused on Member Needs:
Highley understands the challenges facing Hoosier farmers, particularly in the current volatile grain market. She prioritizes staying abreast of local, state, and national issues to effectively serve INFB members. Her goals include:
- Seeing the Farm Bill through to completion.
- Maintaining a keen awareness of member needs.
- Promoting open communication and a "grassroots" approach.
- Collaborating effectively with the INFB leadership team.
A Leader with Open Ears:
Highley values open communication and promises to be a true advocate for all members. INFB President Randy Kron echoes this sentiment, praising Highley's energy and passion for agriculture.
