In a heartwarming display of community support, Kroger, the renowned grocery retailer, teamed up with Miller Poultry Farm for their annual poultry donation event benefiting the Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana.
This year's collaborative effort resulted in an impressive delivery of over 13,000 pounds of wholesome poultry products to the Indianapolis-based food bank. Sarah Estell, the food bank's Chief Communications Officer, emphasized the critical need for such donations, stating, "A lot of people need feeding right now. We’re seeing increased numbers of households coming through here on site. Frequently, new people coming. About 20% of the people coming through are new to our line, so there is a lot of people in need right now."
Expressing their commitment to aiding families in various regions of Indiana, the Steuben County-based Miller Poultry Farm announced plans to continue their contributions over the following weeks. Their ongoing efforts aim to support families in both northern and southern Indiana, particularly focusing on Steuben County, situated in the northeast corner of the state.
This powerful collaboration between Kroger and Miller Poultry Farm stands as a testament to the impact that collective community efforts can have in addressing the growing needs of those facing food insecurity in Indiana.
