EDP Renewables and NIPSCO Unveil Carpenter Wind Farm in Indiana

EDP Renewables and NIPSCO have partnered once again, this time for the Carpenter Wind Farm in Indiana. The collaboration marks their fifth renewable energy project in the state, totaling over 1,000 megawatts of clean energy generation. The 198-megawatt Carpenter Wind Farm, located in Jasper County, is expected to commence operations in 2025, providing renewable electricity to approximately 53,000 homes annually.

With an estimated investment of $365 million, the project will deliver not only clean energy but also significant economic benefits to the area. Landowners will receive around $70 million in payments, while local governments will benefit from an additional $38 million, enhancing schools, infrastructure, and public services. EDP Renewables has also committed $1.6 million to the Town of Remington for community projects.

The development and construction of the wind farm will stimulate the local economy, creating 150-200 jobs during the construction phase and around a dozen permanent positions. EDP Renewables and NIPSCO have already completed four successful renewable energy projects in Indiana and are actively contributing to NIPSCO's goal of retiring all remaining coal plants by 2028, leading to a substantial reduction in carbon emissions.

EDP Renewables is a prominent renewable energy developer and operator in Indiana, with a significant presence and ongoing projects in the state. Their investments not only promote sustainable energy but also bring economic growth and benefits to Hoosier communities.
