Indiana Ag Leader Explores Global Markets for Corn and Soybeans

By Andi Anderson

Indiana's agriculture sector is making waves on the global stage, and the efforts of Courtney Kingery, CEO of the Indiana Corn Marketing Council, Indiana Corn Growers Association, and Indiana Soybean Alliance. In a whirlwind two weeks, Kingery embarked on trade missions to Brazil, Mexico, and India, aiming to enhance the value of Indiana's corn and soybeans for producers worldwide.

Kingery emphasizes the pivotal role Indiana plays in feeding and fueling the world. She underscores the importance of leveraging Indiana agriculture's strengths to meet global demand. Her recent engagements with government officials and industry leaders in Brazil, Mexico, and India highlight the significance of Indiana's agricultural products in international markets.

India, in particular, presents a promising opportunity for Indiana ethanol and corn producers. With plans to transition to E20 fuel as the standard within two years, India offers a vast new market for Indiana's ethanol production. Kingery sees this as a significant opportunity for Indiana to contribute to India's energy goals while meeting their growing demand for ethanol.

Highlighting Indiana's ethanol production, Kingery points out that 45% of Indiana's corn is used for ethanol. This underscores the state's capacity to meet the needs of emerging markets like India. Kingery, along with the Indiana Corn Marketing Council and Indiana Soybean Alliance, is actively promoting Indiana's ethanol and corn products in these evolving markets, amplifying the voice of Indiana farmers on the global stage.

Kingery was accompanied by other prominent figures from Indiana's agriculture sector during her international endeavors. Together with Governor Eric Holcomb, Don Lamb of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, and Mitch Frazier of AgriNovus Indiana, Kingery explored opportunities in Brazil and Mexico. In India, she was joined by Becky Joniskan of the Indiana State Poultry Association, Katie Nelson and Drew Sherman of ISDA, and Sean Smith of Culver Duck.

These collaborative efforts underscore Indiana's commitment to expanding its agricultural footprint globally. By seizing opportunities in diverse markets and showcasing the quality of Indiana's agricultural products, Courtney Kingery and her counterparts are driving the growth of Indiana's agriculture sector on the world stage.
