Indiana Farm Bureau (INFB) has opened applications for its annual Ag Literacy Challenge Grant program, offering financial support to Indiana FFA chapters and 4-H clubs that want to develop or expand agricultural education projects in their communities.
The program aims to increase agricultural awareness and help people better understand the importance of farming and food production. Through this initiative, eligible organizations can apply for grants of up to $1,000 to support new or enhanced ag literacy activities. A total of up to $10,000 in funding is available through the program.
Grant-funded projects must take place between October 2026 and August 2027. The initiative is designed to encourage young people to educate community members about agriculture while developing leadership and communication skills.
The Ag Literacy Challenge Grant supports programs in three key areas. The first is Consumer Education, which focuses on helping Indiana residents learn more about agriculture and its role in daily life.
The second area is Youth-Adult Collaboration, encouraging positive relationships, networking opportunities, and learning experiences between young agricultural leaders and adults in the industry.
The third category is Policy and Practice Awareness, which highlights farming practices, agricultural policies, and efforts that promote greater understanding of agricultural issues.
FFA chapters and 4-H clubs receiving grants will be required to complete a report after finishing their projects. They must also share the results of their programs with their local county Farm Bureau, helping spread successful ideas and best practices throughout the state.
The Ag Literacy Challenge Grant is part of Indiana Farm Bureau’s broader commitment to supporting youth involvement in agriculture. Throughout the year, the organization provides a variety of educational and leadership opportunities. These include scholarships for graduating high school seniors and college students, support for Collegiate Farm Bureau chapters at Purdue University, Huntington University, and Vincennes University, as well as FFA advocacy events and training programs.
In addition, Indiana Farm Bureau sponsors 4-H activities, leadership development programs, competitions, awards, conferences, and other initiatives that help prepare the next generation of agricultural professionals.
Students and organizations interested in applying should note that the application deadline is midnight on September 15, 2026. The grant program offers a valuable opportunity for young agricultural leaders to create meaningful educational projects, strengthen community understanding of agriculture, and promote the future of farming across Indiana.
