Indiana beef event for producers 2024

By Andi Anderson

The Indiana Beef Cattle Association (IBCA) will host its 2024 Field Day on Saturday, September 21, at 2 p.m. at Stewart Select Angus in Greensburg, Decatur County.

This event, organized in partnership with the Indiana Bull Evaluation Program (IBEP), invites beef producers to gather for an afternoon of fellowship, education, and an informative farm tour.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore Stewart Select Angus and learn about its operations firsthand. Following the farm tour, Justin Sexten from Zoetis will deliver a presentation on genomics and its practical applications for the commercial cattle industry, offering valuable insights into precision animal health practices.

In addition to the educational sessions, there will be a panel discussion on marketing within the beef industry. The panel will feature key experts, including Gordon Lowry from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, Danny Orr of Sulfur Creek Cattle Company, Cody Gardner of Superior Livestock, and Adam Blessinger from Fischer Farms.

These panelists will share their knowledge and experiences in cattle marketing, providing attendees with practical strategies and insights to help boost their operations.

The IBCA encourages all Indiana beef producers and industry supporters to attend this free event. To ensure proper arrangements, those interested are asked to RSVP by September 13 to ewilson@indianabeef.org. A dinner will be provided for all attendees following the day’s activities.

The IBCA is a not-for-profit organization that serves to represent the interests of Indiana beef producers through advocacy, education, and support.

The association remains committed to helping beef producers improve their profitability and keep up with the latest developments in the industry.
