Indiana Farm Bureau Workshop Registration Open

Indiana Farm Bureau Workshop Registration Open

By Andi Anderson

The Indiana Farm Bureau (INFB) is excited to announce the opening of registration for its inaugural Understanding Agricultural Contracts and Leases workshop. This virtual program will take place on Thursday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Eastern Time, providing a comprehensive overview of agricultural contracts and leases.

The workshop aims to demystify the complexities of contracting basics, types of agricultural production contracts, oral leases, and alternative energy leases, helping farmers and landlords navigate these essential aspects of their operations.

“Working through a contract or lease can often be a cumbersome and overwhelming task for farmers,” said Mark Thornburg, INFB executive director of legal affairs. “This new workshop is designed to help farmers understand the difference between farmland leases and production contracts, as well as the importance of having a legally binding agreement. We hope they walk away feeling more educated and better prepared when dealing with a farmland transaction.”

The workshop features expert speakers covering key topics:

  • Agricultural Contracting Basics: Todd Janzen, Janzen Schroeder Ag Law.
  • Agricultural Production Contracts: Elizabeth Rumley, The National Agricultural Law Center.
  • Renewable Energy Contracts: Brianna Schroeder, Janzen Schroeder Ag Law.
  • Oral Leases of Farmland: Anthony Crowell, Gordon and Associates.

Targeted at farmers, landowners, and agricultural stakeholders, this program offers valuable insights to enhance their understanding of contracts and leases. The workshop is free for INFB members and $50 for non-members. Sponsored by the Indiana Agricultural Law Foundation, the event promotes better legal understanding in Indiana agriculture through education, research, and support of significant litigation.

Registration is required by Tuesday, June 25. Interested participants can register at www.infb.org/events. Attorneys attending the workshop can earn 3.3 CLE credits.

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain essential knowledge and practical advice on agricultural contracts and leases.
