The Indiana Soybean Alliance (ISA) is calling for more than 200 volunteers to participate in the Glass Barn during the upcoming Indiana State Fair, which will take place from July 28 to August 20, 2023.
This year, the Glass Barn will celebrate its 10th anniversary by opening its doors to the public and offering educational experiences on modern farming practices and family farms. Over the years, Indiana soybean growers have utilized the Glass Barn to educate millions of fairgoers about the cultivation of soybeans and the significance of this important crop.
Volunteers who commit to a four-hour shift will receive several perks, including a ticket to the Indiana State Fair, a free parking pass, a complimentary t-shirt, and a meal coupon. They will assist visitors in engaging with interactive exhibits at the Glass Barn, such as operating the combine simulator, playing the BeanGo game to earn this year's Glass Barn hat, taking photos in the Picture You booths, and participating in live virtual Farmer Chats where they can answer quiz questions about Indiana agriculture for a chance to win prizes.
To register as a volunteer, click here or send an email to beanteam@indianasoybean.com. For any inquiries or to sign up, you can also contact Ben Linder, the ISA Consumer Outreach Manager, via email at blinder@indianasoybean.com or by phone at 317-644-2857.
For those unable to volunteer, you are invited to visit the Glass Barn during the Indiana State Fair. Recent updates have enhanced popular exhibits as noted above, including a combine simulator, a soybean farming video game, an updated photobooth with new backgrounds, and the engaging WeGrow Theater, featuring live farmer chats held daily at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.
Soybeans will have an increased presence at other locations throughout the fair, such as powering the Midway rides and tractor shuttles with soy biodiesel. Moreover, in partnership with the Indiana FFA, SynLawn turf will be utilized on the putt-putt golf course in the FFA Pavilion, attracting approximately 15,000 participants annually.
