Indiana Grown Celebrates Local Products at June Marketplace

Indiana Grown, the state's agricultural branding initiative, held its inaugural June Marketplace at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Event Center, drawing a crowd of enthusiastic Hoosiers. Over 50 member businesses showcased their products, allowing attendees to sample, sip, and shop.

Caroline Patrick, the director of Indiana Grown, expressed her delight with the event's success, stating, "We are excited to see so many Hoosiers and Indiana Grown members participating in this event. We look forward to its continued growth alongside our program."

Indiana Grown, a program by the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, was established to promote locally grown or made products for Indiana residents. From farm-fresh produce to carefully crafted artisan goods, the initiative helps Hoosiers discover the diverse range of offerings within their own state.

Mary Hobbs, owner of Beehive Body Company in Mount Summit, Indiana, expressed gratitude for the community's support, emphasizing their integral role in her business's success.

With Indiana's vast agricultural landscape spanning 19 million acres, the state boasts over 56,000 farming operations, making it the eighth largest farming state in the nation. The Indiana Grown logo serves as a clear identifier, helping consumers easily recognize and support local products.

The June Marketplace provided a convenient platform for Hoosiers to explore and purchase a variety of locally produced items, including jams, wines, body care products, plants, art, and pottery.

The event showcased the rich agricultural heritage of Indiana and fostered support for local businesses. Its success reflects the enthusiasm and commitment of Hoosiers to embrace and promote their homegrown products.
