Tim Glyshaw Takes Helm as Indiana HBPA's Executive Director

By Andi Anderson

Indiana native and seasoned Thoroughbred horseman, Tim Glyshaw, is set to take on the role of Executive Director at the Indiana Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association (IHBPA), as announced in a recent press release. Glyshaw, known for his extensive experience in horse racing, is scheduled to commence his new position on February 1, succeeding Brian Elmore, who retires after a successful six-year tenure.

Joe Davis, President of the IHBPA, expressed his enthusiasm for Glyshaw's appointment, stating, “Tim's extensive knowledge of the industry makes him an invaluable addition to our team, stepping into the shoes of Brian Elmore. Brian's contributions have been significant, and finding a suitable replacement was no small feat. Tim not only brings expertise as a trainer but also boasts commendable business acumen, making him a tremendous asset for our organization.”

Having roots in Evansville, Glyshaw graduated from Indiana University with a degree in education before transitioning into Thoroughbred horse racing. He initially worked under Trainer Robert Holthus before venturing out independently in 2004, focusing on races primarily in Kentucky and Indiana.

Expressing his sentiments about his new role, Glyshaw shared, “Transitioning to the executive director position presents an exciting opportunity for me to stay engaged in the racing community and contribute positively to Indiana's racing members. Brian has been an exceptional leader, and I look forward to learning from his experience in the coming months. His mentorship will be invaluable as I step into this role.”

Glyshaw, who currently trains nine horses, plans to conclude his training duties gradually as he prepares to assume his responsibilities at the IHBPA. He expressed gratitude to his longstanding supporters, particularly Deerfield Farm, emphasizing their continued partnership and support throughout his racing career.

The transition period will see Glyshaw shadowing Elmore in early 2024, with Elmore gradually phasing out his responsibilities within the first quarter of the year, as outlined in the official press release.

This announcement heralds a new chapter for the Indiana HBPA, with Glyshaw's appointment marking an exciting transition in the organization's leadership.
