Visit Randolph County farms with Purdue

The 91st annual Purdue University Farm Management Tour will take place on July 17 at two farms in Randolph County, Indiana.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about innovative farm management strategies from local farm families, explore new technologies for improving efficiency and productivity, and discover ways to ensure a successful transition of farm operations to the next generation.

The event will conclude with a Master Farmer reception and panel discussion to honor the 2024 Master Farmers.

Sponsored by the Center for Commercial Agriculture (CCA), Purdue Extension, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, and Farm Credit Mid-America, the tour includes stops at Clements-Miller Farm in Lynn, Indiana, and Union Go Dairy at Willow’s Edge in Winchester, Indiana.

These farms have been selected for their successful business management practices and forward-looking strategies. The Purdue College of Agriculture and Indiana Prairie Farmer sponsor the Indiana Master Farmer program.

“The tour not only highlights the importance of effective farm management but also celebrates the dedication and success of our farming community,” said James Mintert, director of the CCA and professor of agricultural economics.

“By hearing about sound farm management strategies from successful farm families, attendees will take home effective ideas that they can implement into their own farm operation.”

At both stops, farm operators will provide an overview of their farms. Host farmers will share successful farm management tips, discuss how their operations are adapting to the agricultural economy and evolving family circumstances, and explain the reasons behind their recent innovations in production practices and technology adoption.

The tour and reception are free and open to the public, but registration is required by July 10. Interested participants can register by visiting purdue.ag/farmtour or by calling 765-494-7004. The full agenda is available on the CCA website.

Purdue University is a public research institution known for its excellence and scale. Ranked among the top 10 public universities in the United States, Purdue offers education to more than 105,000 students across various modalities and locations.
