First Farmers Bank Donation Boosts Indiana Pork's 'Million Meals'
Indiana Ag Connection - 09/10/2021

Indiana Pork's Million Meals program received a boost thanks to a $10,000 donation by First Farmers Bank & Trust, headquartered in Converse, Ind.., during the Ham Breakfast held during the Indiana State Fair. Since its inception in 2009, the Million Meals program has provided more than one million ground pork meals to Hoosiers in need through a partnership with Feeding Indiana's Hungry, an association representing Indiana's food banks.

"Since 1885, First Farmers Bank & Trust has been an integral partner in production agriculture and it remains the backbone of our business strategy in the Midwest. We feel the Million Meals program, as supported by Indiana Pork, is a tremendous example of the sincere commitment of Hoosier farmers to those in need and we feel it is our responsibility to share the blessings of agriculture with the less fortunate in our communities," said Tade Powell, Sr Vice President, First Farmers Bank & Trust.

"We are very thankful to First Farmers Bank & Trust for their generous donation. The Million Meals program continues to be a wonderful partnership for our association, Indiana Pork and the generous contributors that make it happen," said Emily Bryant, executive director of Feeding Indiana's Hungry.

"Indiana pork farmers put a priority on feeding their neighbors. We are thrilled that First Farmers Bank & Trust believe in that mission as well and are happy to see their donation to the Million Meals program will purchase ground pork for food pantries in need," said Jeanette Merritt, Director of Communications for Indiana Pork.

The Million Meals program is an Indiana effort with the pork provided by Indiana Packer's Corporation in Delphi and the processing in Indianapolis. The ground pork will be distributed among Feeding Indiana's Hungry member food banks throughout the state.
