Alexxys Standish - Indiana's Ambassador of Agriculture and Youth

Amidst applause and celebration, Alexxys Standish, crowned as Miss Newton County 2023, now wears the prestigious title of the 65th Indiana State Fair Queen. Her crowning achievement not only marks personal success but also signifies a momentous milestone as the first delegate from Newton County to claim this honor.

Selected amidst a pool of over 80 candidates, Standish steps into a vital role, becoming the voice of the Indiana State Fair's mission. Her upcoming journey involves traversing over 6,500 miles across 45 counties during the summer, serving as a beacon for the fair's dedication to agricultural education and youth development.

With roots dating back to 1852, the Indiana State Fair spans 15 eventful days every August, showcasing the essence of 4-H exhibitions, agricultural education, and a delightful selection of deep-fried treats.

In a nod to excellence, other outstanding participants included Maya Narayan from Elkhart County as the first runner-up, followed by notable contenders like Sadie Herring of Vigo County, Alex Kerkhove of White County, and Hannah Martinez of Steuben County, with additional finalists from Jay County, Whitley County, Delaware County, Marion County, and Washington County rounding out the top 10.

Adding to the accolades, Avery Shrider from Wabash County earned the title of Miss Congeniality.

Beyond her triumphs, Standish's aspirations in occupational therapy drive her ambitions. She aims to pursue a Doctorate at Indiana University Indianapolis, focusing on pediatric care. Actively engaged in community causes, Standish extends her support to organizations like the Kentland Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department, Indiana Volunteer Fire Association, and the Miss Flame Organization. Her volunteer efforts also extend to Newton County 4-H, Junior Achievement, and cancer research.
