Big Wins for Lincoln Academy at FFA Nationals

Big Wins for Lincoln Academy at FFA Nationals

By Andi Anderson

Two students from Lincoln Academy in Maine earned national recognition at the 98th National FFA Convention and Expo, held in Indianapolis, Indiana, from October 29 to November 1, 2025. Their achievements reflect the dedication and leadership found within the school’s growing FFA program.

Julia Deitrick, a member of the Class of 2026, earned a Bronze rating in the Prepared Public Speaking event. Her presentation focused on Farm Income Instability, showing her ability to research agricultural issues and communicate them clearly.

Julia serves as President of the Lincoln Academy FFA Chapter and continues to demonstrate strong leadership skills both in and out of the classroom.

Jillian McLaughlin, a Lincoln Academy alum from the Class of 2025 and a current Maine FFA State Officer, achieved a Gold ranking and placed seventh nationally in the Employment Skills Leadership Development Event.

This event evaluates students on their ability to prepare for and perform well in professional interview settings. Jillian is currently studying Communications at Southern Maine Community College and serves full time as the Reporter for Maine FFA.

Both students represented their school and the State of Maine with pride. Their accomplishments highlight the strength of Maine’s agricultural education programs and the positive impact that FFA continues to make on young leaders.

The National FFA Organization, formerly known as Future Farmers of America, prepares students for careers in agriculture, business, and skilled trades. Through hands-on learning, competitions, and leadership development, FFA encourages students to grow their skills and serve their communities.

Lincoln Academy’s FFA chapter, now in its third year and the only chapter on Maine’s coast, provides opportunities for students to explore agricultural careers, build leadership abilities, and participate in local and national events.

Through activities like public speaking, employability contests, and service projects, the chapter helps students gain confidence and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
