The Indiana Horticultural Conference and Expo (IHC) will take place on January 14-15 at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds in Danville.
This annual event is a prime opportunity for current and aspiring fruit and vegetable growers, crop consultants, and allied industry members to learn, connect, and enhance their skills.
The event includes educational sessions on diverse topics such as fruit and vegetable production, food safety, controlled environment agriculture, pest management, and business marketing.
Highlights of the program include a special apple cider contest to judge the best-tasting cider.
Stephen Meyers, IHC co-chair and a Purdue University associate professor, noted that the conference offers a rich experience for growers at all levels. “This event fosters learning and collaboration among growers, researchers, and industry professionals,” he said.
A trade show will feature vendors offering seeds, fertilizers, irrigation systems, and tools to enhance farming operations. Nonprofit organizations will also be present to provide resources on soil health and food distribution.
Private and commercial pesticide applicators can earn recertification credits by attending specific sessions. Certified private pesticide applicators need to pay an additional $10 fee on-site and provide their license number to earn credit.
Registration for the event is open online through January 7. Attendees can register for one or both days, and fees include lunch and refreshments. The Hendricks County Fairgrounds are located at 1900 E. Main St., Danville.
