Keith Lambright, owner of Shipshewana Auction, Inc., has been honored with two of Indiana’s highest agricultural awards, recognizing decades of leadership, innovation, and community service.
At the start of the Indiana State Fair, Lambright received the AgriVision Award from Lt. Governor Micah Beckwith and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. This award is presented annually to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Indiana agriculture and their communities.
Lambright was also inducted into the Indiana Livestock Breeder’s Association Hall of Fame, an honor acknowledging his influence across multiple livestock species. The award was presented by Rex Smith of the Indiana Purebred Swine Breeders.
His agricultural journey began in childhood, attending livestock sales and learning the trade firsthand. In 1981, Lambright joined his father and brother in purchasing Shipshewana Auction, which has since become a major livestock marketplace in the Midwest, selling over 2,000 animals weekly.
Lambright’s contributions span numerous livestock operations, including Maple Lane Angus, one of the nation’s leading Angus herds, and a top swine seedstock business producing award-winning show pigs.
He and his son, Brian, also manage a flock of 300 Hamp/Cross ewes producing top show lambs and partner in a herd of 250 registered Angus cows. In 2022, Lambright expanded into meat processing by acquiring Cedar Creek Meats.
Beyond business, he has mentored youth, supported 4-H, hosted training programs, and served 30 years on the local school board. His dedication to the next generation of farmers is reflected in his own family, with all three children active in the auction business.
Lambright emphasizes stewardship, stating that land, livestock, and resources are gifts to be cared for responsibly for future generations. State and local leaders praised his role in strengthening Indiana agriculture and preserving rural traditions.
