Franklin Farmers Market Named Indianas Ultimate Farmers' Market

The Franklin Farmers Market in Johnson County has been named the winner of the 2025 Indiana’s Ultimate Farmers Market competition, earning the top spot in a contest that highlights the value of local markets across the state.

The competition, now in its third year, is sponsored by Indiana Grown and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. It recognizes markets that bring communities together and promote Indiana-grown products. This year’s contest included markets from 27 counties, with Franklin taking home the honor.

“Indiana’s Ultimate Farmers Market allows communities to support their local farmers market by voting for their favorite,” said Caroline Patrick, Indiana Grown Program director. “It’s a way for consumers to champion their hometown markets and help others discover Indiana-grown products.”

For Franklin, the award represents both recognition and gratitude. A spokesperson for the market shared, “We are so thankful to all of you that voted and so happy for everyone that works to make this market truly the best in the state. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers, staff, vendors, musicians, sponsors, and the City of Franklin for hosting our market in the amphitheater area. We are humbled and honored to win this prestigious award after placing second last year.”

The recognition highlights the market’s success in creating a vibrant hub where local farmers, food producers, and artisans connect directly with the community.

Winning the 2025 title not only celebrates Franklin’s achievement but also underscores the importance of farmers markets in supporting agriculture, boosting local economies, and strengthening community ties.
