Cargill, a global leader in food, agriculture, and industrial products, has announced a substantial grant to the National FFA Organization, totaling $3.15 million over three years. This initiative aims to bolster the organization's efforts in nurturing the next generation of leaders in agriculture.
The grant will fund various programs and events from 2023 to 2025, including support for the National FFA Organization's sustainability platform, equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) pathway, as well as the Living to Serve program. Notably, during the National FFA Convention & Expo, the grant will facilitate a booth, rodeo, and travel grants for participants in career development events (CDE). Additionally, it will support prestigious recognitions like the American FFA Degree and the American Star Awards.
Furthermore, Cargill's contribution will foster exploration in agricultural career pathways through initiatives such as AgExplorer and specific paths like Food Products and Processing and Animal Systems. In 2024, the grant will sponsor the Next Gen Conference, focusing on food, processing, and products, scheduled for June 25-29, 2024, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The impact of Cargill's grant has already been felt, with significant achievements in the first year. In the fall semester of 2023, it facilitated over 77,000 hours of service through Living to Serve Grants, supported FFA members in competitive events, and provided travel grants for participants in the National FFA Convention & Expo. Moreover, it contributed to the State Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Collaborative, benefiting numerous state FFA associations.
Expressing gratitude for the partnership, Molly Ball, president of the National FFA Foundation, and chief marketing officer of the National FFA Organization, emphasized the importance of such grants in fostering leadership potential. Similarly, Rob Stewart, director of Growth Ventures and Emerging Markets for Cargill’s North American Protein business, highlighted the enduring collaboration spanning over 60 years and its impact on promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability within the agriculture industry.
The National FFA Organization, with over 945,000 student members across all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, aims to develop premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Meanwhile, the National FFA Foundation, through partnerships and financial resources, supports FFA member achievements and the future of agricultural education.
Cargill's commitment to nourishing the world in a safe, responsible, and sustainable manner is evident in its partnership with the National FFA Organization. With a workforce of 160,000 members, Cargill remains dedicated to innovation and upholding its values as a family company with 159 years of experience.
