Purdue Hosts Virtual Farm Support Sessions

Purdue Hosts Virtual Farm Support Sessions

By Andi Anderson

Purdue Extension is inviting Indiana farmers and agricultural families to participate in a virtual educational series titled Farm Shield Protecting Your Legacy from Life’s Uncertainties.

The program is designed to help families manage the complex challenges that come with operating and sustaining a family farm.

Farm Shield provides practical tools and expert insights focused on succession planning estate preparation and risk management. The series emphasizes long-term stability and resilience for agricultural families by addressing both financial and personal aspects of farm management. It is intended to support families as they plan for future transitions and unexpected events.

The virtual sessions will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time throughout March 2026. Each session focuses on a key topic that is critical to the success of a family farming operation.

The series will begin on March 4 with Preparing for the Unexpected. On March 11 the topic will be Estate and Succession Planning.

Financial decision making will be covered on March 18 through Managing Financial Responsibility. The final session on March 25 will focus on Addressing Family Conflict.

Farm Shield is structured as more than a single event. It is a learning experience designed to help families strengthen communication plans responsibly and make informed decisions.

Sessions include guidance from professionals with experience in legal financial and family dynamics related to agriculture.

“I just paid $40 for a $1,000 program!” shared one participant from the in-person series, highlighting the strong value of the expert led content.

Registration for the virtual Farm Shield series costs $40. This fee includes access to all sessions program materials and post conference guidance from Purdue Extension educators. The initiative is supported by USDA NIFA funding under Award Number 2024 70027 42470.

If you are in need of accommodation to attend this program, please contact Mathias Ingle prior to the meeting at 765-456-2313 or rmingle@purdue.edu by February 27, 2026. The program reflects Purdue University’s commitment to inclusive educational opportunities for all participants.
