Cover Crop Program Shares Latest Farm Research

Cover Crop Program Shares Latest Farm Research

By Andi Anderson

Farmers and agricultural professionals in Southwest Indiana are invited to attend a special Cover Crops Breakfast Program in Posey County. The event will take place on June 12, 2026, at the Posey County 4-H Fairgrounds in New Harmony.

The program is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. CST. Registration will begin between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., followed by the main program from 8:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. The event aims to provide useful information and practical knowledge to farmers who are interested in improving their crop management practices.

This educational program will focus on several important topics related to modern agriculture. Farmers will learn about managing cover crop plans, which help improve soil health and reduce erosion.

Experts will also present new research on nutrient management and explain how proper application can increase crop productivity and protect the environment.

Participants will receive updates from key agricultural organizations, including the Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and Extension services.

These updates are helpful for farmers to stay informed about current programs, resources, and support available to them.

Another important part of the event will be the 2026 ESA regulatory update. This session will provide farmers with information about new and upcoming regulations that may affect their farming operations. Understanding these rules is important for maintaining compliance and ensuring sustainable farming practices.

The program also offers an opportunity for farmers to network with experts and other growers. Sharing knowledge and experiences can help improve farming methods and encourage innovation in agriculture.

Farmers are advised to attend only one program for credit, as this event is also being repeated in Warrick County on June 5. Interested participants can register by calling 812-385-3491 or visiting the provided online link.
