Dearborn County earns stellar pathways designation for development

Dearborn County has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Stellar Pathways designation, marking a significant achievement in community and rural development in Indiana.

The initiative, led by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA), supports transformative projects aimed at fostering regional growth and sustainability.

The Stellar Pathways program is a multi-year initiative designed to address challenges faced by Indiana's rural communities. It promotes partnerships and supports sustainable solutions, focusing on quality-of-life improvements through community-driven projects.

Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch praised the program, saying, "Stellar Pathways showcases Indiana’s dedication to rural development. Dearborn and Wabash counties have demonstrated their commitment to enhancing their communities.”

The selection process for Stellar Pathways was competitive. Over six months, the scoring committee evaluated four finalist regions on several factors, including project impact, funding alignment, local and private leverage, and community engagement.

Dearborn County stood out for its comprehensive planning, long-term viability, and dedication to addressing local needs.

OCRA Executive Director Duke Bennett congratulated the winners, stating, “Dearborn County and Wabash County have worked tirelessly to achieve this recognition. Their efforts will bring lasting benefits to their regions.”

The Stellar Pathways program provides resources to support regional investments, improve infrastructure, and stimulate economic growth.

Partner agencies include the Indiana Department of Transportation, Department of Health, and Housing and Community Development Authority. These partnerships enable communities to leverage existing assets for impactful development.

Dearborn County’s designation as a Stellar Pathways community reflects its dedication to sustainable progress, fostering partnerships, and improving quality of life. The program is expected to drive transformative changes, benefiting residents and setting an example for other regions.

This recognition underscores Indiana's ongoing efforts to support its rural communities through innovative and collaborative approaches to development.
