Digital Agriculture Events Drive Future Farming Innovation

By Andi Anderson

Purdue Agriculture continues to strengthen knowledge and innovation in farming through its Data-Driven Agriculture seminar series. Since Fall 2020, the program has welcomed experts from across the College of Agriculture and leading organizations to share valuable insights into data science, artificial intelligence, and digital agriculture.

The seminar series provides a platform for farmers, researchers, students, and industry professionals to explore important topics affecting modern agriculture. These discussions focus on how technology can improve decision-making, increase productivity, and help agricultural stakeholders make better use of collected data.

Participants are encouraged to stay informed about the latest developments in digital agriculture through both live events and previously recorded seminars. Purdue Agriculture also offers access to past presentations through the Data-Driven Agriculture playlist available on its YouTube channel.

The Fall 2026 schedule features several distinguished speakers representing agriculture, technology, research, and industry organizations. Upcoming presenters include Angela Records from FFAR on September 29, Genrry Rey from Solinftec on October 15, and Krishna Kumar from Cropin on October 22.

Additional sessions will feature Mitch Hockett from STgenetics on November 12, Brant Caley from Gradable Farmer Operations on November 19, Scott Hutchins from USDA on November 20, and Michael Flierl from The Ohio State University on December 3. The series concludes on December 10 with Victor Cabrera, Extension Specialist, Dairy Farm.

Alongside the seminar series, Purdue Agriculture is organizing several digital agriculture events. One of the key programs is Purdue GIS Day 2026: Cyber GIS & Geospatial Data Science, scheduled for November 12. The event will focus on geospatial technology, data science, and innovative applications supporting agricultural advancement.

Other notable activities include the IDAAS Seminar Series featuring Mitch Hockett from STgenetics and Brant Caley from Gradable Farmer Operations. A Precision & Digital Agriculture Hackathon at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign will also provide participants with opportunities to develop solutions for real-world agricultural challenges.

The IDAAS Seminar Series will continue with Michael Flierl from The Ohio State University, offering additional perspectives on research, innovation, and digital technologies.

Through these seminars and events, Purdue Agriculture remains committed to encouraging collaboration, knowledge sharing, and technological progress. By bringing together industry leaders, researchers, and students, the program helps advance the understanding and adoption of digital tools that will shape the future of agriculture and support sustainable farming practices worldwide.
