at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds. The event is open to everyone interested in agriculture, although advance registration is required. Attendance is free for Indiana Farm Bureau members, while nonmembers can participate for a registration fee.
The conference will focus on helping farmers identify ways to diversify their operations and create additional sources of income. Organizers believe diversification can play an important role in improving business resilience, reducing financial risk, and helping family farms remain successful for future generations.
Kendell Culp, INFB’s vice president, emphasized the importance of investing in agriculture and rural communities.
“The goal of this event is to encourage better investment in agriculture and our rural communities,” said Kendell Culp, INFB’s vice president. “That means creating more opportunities for passing the farm on to the next generation by ensuring our farm operations remain viable. Successful farm diversification is ultimately about resilience, community investment, and creating those paths for the next generation to stay connected to the land and family legacy.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in educational breakout sessions covering a variety of important business topics. These sessions will focus on alternative income opportunities, agricultural contracts, digital marketing, insurance coverage, liability protection, and other strategies that can help improve farm management and financial performance.
Industry experts and agricultural professionals will also share their experiences and insights. Patrick Nycz, food business and marketing administrator for Purdue University, will lead a session focused on the food industry and the process of launching new products. His presentation will provide valuable information for farmers interested in expanding into value-added products and food-based businesses.
In addition, Caroline Patrick from Indiana Grown will moderate a panel discussion featuring experts who will share successful direct-to-consumer business models. The discussion will highlight methods farmers can use to connect directly with customers and increase market opportunities.
The conference reflects the growing need for farmers to explore innovative business strategies amid changing market conditions. By learning about diversification, marketing, and risk management, participants can gain practical knowledge to strengthen their operations and improve long-term success.
Organizers hope the event will encourage stronger agricultural businesses, support rural economic growth, and help ensure that future generations remain connected to farming traditions while embracing new opportunities.
