The Indiana Corn Growers Association (ICGA) invites passionate farmers to contribute to federal and state legislative processes by running for seats on its board. The ICGA board serves as a voice for Hoosier corn farmers across local, state, and federal levels, aligning with Indiana's nine Congressional districts. This year, vacancies await in Districts 3, 6, and 9, providing an opportunity for farmers to step into advocacy roles.
District 3 covers counties including Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Whitley, Huntington, Wells, Blackford, Jay, Adams, Allen, DeKalb, and Steuben. An open seat in this district awaits new representation as ICGA Director Sarah Delbecq will term off the board in 2024.
District 6 encompasses counties like Delaware, Randolph, Henry, Wayne, Union, Fayette, Franklin, Rush, Hancock, Shelby, Bartholomew, Decatur, Ripley, Jennings, Jefferson, Scott, Switzerland, Ohio, and Dearborn.
District 9 comprises counties such as Morgan, Johnson, Brown, Monroe, Lawrence, Orange, Jackson, Washington, Scott, Clark, Floyd, Harrison, and Crawford.
Applications for the election are due at the ICGA office by January 26, 2024. Ballots will be mailed to members in mid-June, with returns expected in July. Successful candidates will commence a three-year term in December 2024. For submission of completed materials, contact Amber Myers at amyers@indianacorn.org.
ICGA President Chris Cherry, a farmer in rural Hancock County, stresses the importance of representing Indiana's corn farmers in legislative decision-making. Eligible candidates must be ICGA members in good standing, involved in corn production, reside in their represented district, and be up-to-date on membership dues.
Join ICGA to be an influential voice shaping the future for Hoosier corn farmers by actively engaging in legislative advocacy.
