Indiana Getting Good Rains as Crops Mature


Sufficient rain throughout much of the State aided in maintaining crop conditions for many.

That’s according to Nathanial Warenski, State Statistician, with the USDA National Ag Statistics Service’s Indiana Field Office.

Soil moisture levels increased from the previous week, with 66 percent of top soil moisture reported as adequate or surplus.

The average temperature for the week was 77.5 which is 3.4 degrees above normal for the State.

The amount of rainfall varied from none to 4.10 inches over the week. The statewide average precipitation was 1.37 inches, 0.46 inches above normal.

Corn silking progress neared completion throughout the State. Corn condition was rated 63 percent good to excellent.
