The Indiana State Fair has announced the 2025 Featured Farmers, recognizing 15 farm families for their contributions to agriculture. This initiative, now in its tenth year, connects fairgoers with farmers, highlighting their essential role in food production.
“The Indiana State Fair is dedicated to preserving agricultural heritage and honoring the hardworking farmers who sustain our communities,” said Cindy Hoye, executive director of the Indiana State Fair Commission. She emphasized that this program helps educate visitors about modern farming practices.
Sponsored by Corteva, the Featured Farmers program allows attendees to meet farmers, hear their stories, and learn about their daily work. Each day of the fair, a different farmer will engage with visitors through live chats at the Glass Barn and other activities.
Heidi Spahn of Corteva highlighted the importance of this program, stating, “The Indiana State Fair is the perfect place to connect the public with farmers who dedicate their lives to feeding us.”
The 2025 lineup features a diverse range of farms, including dairy, livestock, crops, wineries, and specialty farms. Among the recognized farms is Harker Family Orchard from Shelby County, known for producing apples, peaches, nectarines, and plums.
Other featured farms represent different agricultural sectors, including corn, soybeans, pork, beef, and even reindeer farming.
The 2025 Indiana State Fair will take place from August 1 to 17 in Indianapolis, with featured farmers appearing daily. Visitors can engage with these families to gain insight into their agricultural practices and the challenges they face.
