By Andi Anderson

The annual Indiana Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ag Professionals (YF&AP) Conference recently unfolded, providing a dynamic platform for education and networking. Under the theme of "Nurturing Tomorrow's Agriculture Leaders," the event highlighted initiatives and accomplishments that are reshaping the industry.

Keynote addresses by the renowned "SharkFarmer" Rob Sharkey and AgDay Television's Clinton Griffiths set the tone for a weekend focused on motivation and preparation. Sessions covered diverse topics, from family farm transitions to risk management in agritourism, showcasing the commitment to holistic professional development.

A standout recognition was awarded to Henry County Farm Bureau’s YF&AP program, earning the Outstanding County Young Farmers & Ag Professionals Award. Their exemplary focus on philanthropy and community engagement, including unique events like "Meals in the Fields," stood out.

Hamilton and Orange counties secured runner-up positions, each receiving a $500 grant. Perry and St. Joseph counties were celebrated as the Most Improved YF&AP programs, reflecting their commendable growth.

Beyond county recognitions, contributions to Feeding America were acknowledged. St. Joseph County Farm Bureau led in non-perishable food donations, while Orange County Farm Bureau excelled in both monetary contributions and volunteer time.

The newly appointed state YF&AP leadership team, headed by Brock Kiesler of Floyd County, signifies a forward-thinking approach for 2024. The conference highlighted the dedication of these young professionals to shaping a resilient and vibrant future for agriculture.
