Agricultural producers and pesticide applicators in LaGrange County will have an opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of pesticide safety and management during an upcoming educational program. The event is part of the Purdue Extension Private Applicator Recertification Program (PARP) and is designed to provide farmers and agricultural professionals with important industry updates.
The training session is scheduled for September 1, 2026, and will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. EST. The program will be held at the Commissioners Room in the LaGrange Courthouse Annex, located at 114 W. Michigan, LaGrange, Indiana.
Participants will receive information on several important topics that directly affect agricultural operations. One key area of focus will be Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which plays a critical role in protecting applicators from potential exposure during pesticide handling and application. Proper use of safety gear can help reduce risks and improve workplace safety on farms.
The program will also cover Best Management Practices (BMPs) for neighborly pesticide applications. These practices encourage responsible pesticide use while helping farmers maintain positive relationships with neighboring landowners and communities. The session will discuss methods that can reduce off-target movement and support effective communication regarding pesticide applications.
Another important topic on the agenda is the 2026 Endangered Species Act (ESA) Regulatory Update. Participants will learn about recent regulatory developments and how any changes may affect pesticide use and farm management decisions. Understanding these updates can help producers remain informed and compliant with current agricultural regulations.
The educational event aims to provide practical knowledge that farmers can apply to their daily operations. By attending, participants can gain a better understanding of safe pesticide handling, environmental responsibility, and current industry requirements.
