By Andi Anderson

The annual Organic Grain Farmer Meeting, organized by Purdue Extension, focuses on enhancing knowledge about organic farming. This event provides valuable insights into transitioning to organic practices, certification processes, and effective cropping systems. Participants benefit from peer learning, networking opportunities, and a variety of educational sessions.

The program includes full-day workshops on organic grain transition, interactive breakout sessions, farmer-led panels, and a trade show featuring industry innovations. While primarily designed for farmers, agricultural professionals are also encouraged to participate. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for Certified Crop Advisors (CCAs) are available.

Early-bird registration is open until January 12, 2025, at a discounted rate of $60. For more details or assistance, interested individuals can reach out to Ashley Adair, the Extension Organic Agriculture Specialist at holmes9@purdue.edu.

Past attendees have reported significant benefits, with 92% planning to implement ideas on their farms and 85% aiming to improve their organic transition plans. Additionally, 95.8% of participants committed to sharing valuable information with peers.

The event is supported by NC-SARE and the Indiana Organic Network. Sponsorship details are available online. This meeting offers a great opportunity for anyone interested in advancing organic farming practices to connect, learn, and grow. To register visit the website.
