Northern Indiana Grazing Conference Promotes Sustainable Farming

Event highlights organic grazing and grass based dairy innovations

By Andy Anderson

The Northern Indiana Grazing Conference (NIGC) will return to Shipshewana, Indiana, on February 6–7, 2026, bringing together farmers, ranchers, and agricultural professionals dedicated to advancing sustainable livestock and pasture management practices. The event will be held at 455 E Farver Street, running daily from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Over the past two decades, Management Intensive Rotational Grazing (MIRG), the Certified Organic Movement, and grass-only dairying have reshaped the economic and environmental landscape of family farms throughout the American Midwest. These innovative approaches have improved soil health, enhanced animal welfare, and reduced input costs—creating a more resilient and profitable agricultural system.

The upcoming 2026 conference will feature an extensive expo, educational sessions, and hands-on workshops led by experts in grazing systems, soil conservation, animal nutrition, and organic certification. Participants will gain insights into managing diverse pasture systems, improving feed efficiency, and strengthening farm profitability while preserving environmental integrity.

With a strong focus on community-driven learning, the event provides an ideal setting for knowledge exchange between experienced graziers and beginning farmers. Vendors will also showcase the latest tools, technologies, and sustainable products supporting regenerative farming practices.

The Northern Indiana Grazing Conference continues to serve as a vital platform for promoting agricultural innovation, networking, and education across the region. Its mission remains clear—to equip farmers with the strategies needed to sustain healthy pastures, productive livestock, and profitable family farms for generations to come.
